Place Value Manipulatives

We all use base ten blocks which are fabulous concrete way of teaching place value, but I found a few new ways to share with you.
Here are a few cheap easy place value activities I found on Pinterest that I shared at grade level meeting today.
* Place Value Cups- write the numbers 1-9 on the rim of coffee cups then stack them. Rotate the rims to change the numbers. Then expand them and add your 0's and + sign. This will show the kids expanded form. Also, you could add a cup with decimals and show the tenths place.
This would be a fun easy center activity for the students to do independently.

*Place Value Worm- when you fold the worm together it shows standard form of the number. Stretch the worm out and it will show expanded form! :)
